The Plague Guide: How to Vomit Your Way to Victory
Master The Plague in Dead by Daylight with this Vile Purge guide—infect survivors through loops, spread sickness, and punish generator progress.
Let’s be honest: Adiris, the Plague, has the best worst superpower in Dead by Daylight. I get to projectile-hurl sacred bile at survivors and then watch them panic-clean themselves like they just touched raw chicken. It’s disgusting, it’s chaotic, and it is absolutely my favorite way to ruin somebody’s generator repair session. Since 2026 is already packed with sweaty swfs and meta-shuffling updates, mastering this high-skill-ceiling killer can turn you from a coughing nuisance into a full-blown epidemic.

Vile Purge: Your Beautiful Barf Cannon
The Plague’s basic projectile, Vile Purge, is a ranged spray that infects survivors rather than damaging them immediately. It arcs over pallets, through windows, and around loops that would normally send a basic-attack killer crying back to the basement. I cannot stress enough how much practice matters here. Some gaps look too small to vomit through, and then, surprise — someone’s shirt is now a biohazard.
Vile Purge basics:
- Infects healthy survivors.
- Does NOT injure on its own.
- Arcs over obstacles.
- Can hit at distance and weird angles.

The best way to learn is to get into a custom match and puke on everything. Your friends may judge you. That’s okay. They’re already infected.
The Gift That Keeps On Giving: Spreading Sickness
When a healthy survivor touches a fully infected survivor, the infection jumps to them. That means unhooks become little plague parties. A sick survivor coming off the hook immediately infects the would-be rescuer, and suddenly both of them are doing the walk of shame to find a fountain.

I love this because survivors who usually play hyper-altruistically have to ask themselves a very hard question: do I unhook now and get infected, or do I leave my teammate to marinate? Either way, I win.
Aim For Locked Animations, Not Open Fields
Against an experienced survivor, trying to hit them in an open field is like trying to sneeze on a cat — fast, frustrating, and usually embarrassing. Instead, I wait for them to commit to an animation. Survivors are greedy little progress-chasers, so when they’re on a generator, blessing a totem, opening an exit gate, or vaulting a window, they become sitting ducks.
🎯 Prime Vomiting Opportunities
| Situation | Why It Works |
|---|---|
| Repairing a generator | Survivor hates losing progress |
| Cleansing/blessing a totem | Long animation, little awareness |
| Vaulting a window | Locked movement, easy arc |
| Opening exit gates | Panic + animation = free infection |

Infect Objects, Not Just People
Here’s the thing new Plague players miss: Vile Purge can infect objects. Windows, pallets, generators, totems — anything a survivor can interact with. If a loop is giving you trouble, don’t chase. Puke on the pallet. Puke on the window. Leave a nasty little present for anyone who thinks they’re safe.

I sometimes pre-infect key loops before a chase even begins. Then I herd survivors toward them like a very wet, very holy sheepdog. They can either eat the infection or break the loop and risk a basic attack. Both choices make me smile.
Corrupt Purge: When Barf Becomes Lethal
This is the red vomit. The spicy bile. By drinking from a corrupted fountain, the Plague gains Corrupt Purge, which actually injures and downs survivors instead of merely infecting them.

The catch? You have to run across the map to a fountain, which can waste more time than a survivor teabagging at the exit gate. One fountain starts corrupted, and survivors create more whenever they cleanse themselves. So part of Plague’s strategy is knowing when it’s worth that detour and when you’re better off keeping pressure as a regular infection machine.
Fountain Management: The Anxiety Meter
When a survivor uses the last clean fountain, The Plague instantly gets Corrupt Purge no matter where she is. This can turn a losing chase into a sudden squad wipe. Savvy survivors will try to avoid cleansing as a counter, but their greed usually breaks eventually.

💧 Fountain Checklist
-
Always know how many clean fountains remain.
-
Don’t run across the map for Corrupt Purge if you’re already applying pressure.
-
If survivors refuse to cleanse, remember: full infection means they stay injured.
-
If they do cleanse, their panic becomes your power-up.
Bodyblocking: The Rare Gift From Survivors
If a survivor lets me bodyblock them, it’s like Christmas in the Entity’s realm. I can fully infect them, then down them without any speed burst shenanigans. Most good survivors won’t fall for it, but greed around totems or generators creates beautiful mistakes.

Early-game bodyblocks can cause a chain reaction: infect, down, hook, unhook, infect the rescuer. That’s how you turn one mistake into a map-wide outbreak.
Vile Purge As An Information Tool
Vile Purge isn’t just a weapon; it’s a radar. If I infect a generator or window and later see a healthy survivor become sick, I know exactly where they are. Some players spray every surface like a broken fire hydrant, but I prefer targeted infections. It lets me track movements and defend important generators without relying on perks alone.

Multi-Hit Madness
One of Corrupt Purge’s nastiest tricks is its ability to hit multiple survivors at once. By shaking my camera, I can do a wide horizontal spray that punishes survivors who stack on generators or try to bodyblock for a friend.

This makes unhooking in my presence extremely dangerous. Unlike Huntress, I don’t need to aim around the hooked survivor. I can just flood the area. Safe rescue? Not on my watch.
Final Tips: Making Them Regret Not Cleansing
A basic attack gives survivors a burst of speed. But if they are already fully infected, full infection injures them without that speed boost. Smart survivors often remain injured all match to deny you Corrupt Purge, but that also means they can be downed with a single basic attack.

I will puke on every unhook.

I will infect windows before survivors even get there.

I will keep an eye on clean fountains like they owe me money.
